Abstract

The low level of understanding regarding simple subtraction among first grade elementary school students necessitates the use of engaging and interactive learning media. This study aims to develop Canva-based animation learning media for the simple subtraction topic for first-grade students at SDN Pakis V Surabaya and to assess its validity, and effectiveness. The study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which comprises the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects consisted of 37 students from class 1C at SDN Pakis V Surabaya. Media expert validation yielded scores of 100% and 87.5%, while content expert validation resulted in a score of 100%. N-Gain analysis showed a post-test score of 0.72, falling into the high category. Based on these results, the Canva based animation learning media is deemed valid, practical, and effective for teaching simple subtraction to first-grade elementary school students.
