Abstract

Writing literacy is a type of literacy implemented at the elementary school level which aims to improve students' writing skills so that students have a love for writing. The beginning of the implementation of writing literacy at SD Plus Rahmat Kediri City was the publication of the ROMO book and continued with Story of My Class. This study aims to describe the stages of writing literacy in SD Plus Rahmat Kediri City. This study used a qualitative method with the type of research case study of writing literacy at the 4-6 grade level at SD Plus Rahmat Kediri. The supporting factors of the research focus on the theory of the Elementary School Literacy Movement (2016) which states that there are 3 stages in elementary school literacy, namely the habituation stage, the development stage, and the learning stage. The number of informants was 8 people consisting of 3 teachers, 3 students, 1 librarian and 1 headmaster using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques are carried out by means of: Observation, Interview and Documentation. Data analysis techniques using ; reduction, presentation and conclusion. The results of the study show that there are 3 stages in writing literacy, namely (1) The habituation stage in writing is to familiarize students with resuming books they have read by writing the author's name, title, and contents. (2) The Development Stage is the availability of reading booths in the school environment which contain books and students' works on display such as rhymes, poems, etc. (3) The learning stage is provided by a literacy class which is directly given by the librarian who teaches about writing. Even though he is already good at writing literacy, evaluation still needs to be carried out, such as focusing on making short stories for grades 4-6
