Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh probiotik Lactobacillus acidophilus dan Lactobacillus casei terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus sp. yang diisolasi dari urin kucing penderita infeksi saluran kemih (ISK). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental laboratoris dengan pengujian daya hambat menggunakan metode difusi agar. Isolat Staphylococcus sp. diperoleh melalui kultur urin, kemudian diuji sensitivitasnya terhadap kedua jenis probiotik dengan mengukur diameter zona hambat yang terbentuk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Lactobacillus acidophilus dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus sp., yang ditandai dengan terbentuknya zona hambat dalam kategori sangat kuat sebanyak 33% dan Lactobacillus casei juga memiliki kemampuan dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Staphylococcus sp., yang ditandai dengan terbentuknya zona hambat dengan kategori sangat kuat sebanyak 55%. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah probiotik Lactobacillus acidophilus dan Lactobacillus casei berpotensi sebagai agen antibakteri alternatif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Staphylococcus sp. pada kasus infeksi saluran kemih (ISK) pada kucing.
