Abstract

This study aimed to find out whether Padlet could improve students’ writing skills on recount texts at the eleventh grade of SMA Hang Tuah 4 Surabaya. Padlet is an online learning tool that can be used to post text, images, videos, or links on a virtual wall. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting in two cycles. The subjects were 34 students of class XI Data were collected through observation and writing tests and analyzed using qualitative and quantitative methods. The findings showed that the implementation of Padlet improved students’ writing skills. The percentage of students who achieved the minimum passing grade increased from 47.05% in the pre-cycle to 64.70% in Cycle 1 and reached 88.23% in Cycle 2, exceeding the success indicator of 80%. In addition, students became more active, confident, and motivated during the learning process. It can be concluded that Padlet is an effective learning medium for improving students’ writing skills on recount texts. Keywords: Writing, Recount Text, Padlet, Classroom Action Research
