Abstract
This study was conducted in order to know whether short animation movie can improve students’ writing skills in descriptive text for the eleventh grade of Hang Tuah Senior High School 1 Surabaya. The subject of the study was consisted of 36 students of F11-1. In conducting this study, the researcher used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the method of the study. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The technique of collecting data was test and observation. The instruments were writing test and observation checklist. This research was conducted in collaboration with an English teacher at Hang Tuah Senior High School 1 Surabaya, named Fadilla Davarikha, S.Pd. the results of this study, diagnostic test score that passed KKM 75 were 15 (42%) students and cycle I there were 23 (64%) students. And in cycle II were 28 (78%) students passed KKM and achieved the criteria of success. It could be concluded that the classroom action research was successful in improving students’ writing on descriptive text through the implementation of short animation movie at the F11-1 class of SMA Hang Tuah 1 Surabaya.
