Abstract

Urinary tract infections caused by various bacteria and dangerous microorganisms will develop and accumulate in the urinary tract, starting from the urethra to the bladder, multiplying and increasing their population, causing infections in the ureters, urethra, kidneys and bladder. The main trigger for Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) is an unhealthy lifestyle, such as lack of personal hygiene care, especially in the urogenital system. Urinary tract infections have a relatively high incidence rate in Indonesia itself. This study aims to determine the relationship between the habit of delaying urination and the incidence of urinary tract infections. This research uses a comparative analytical research design, with a cross sectional approach, which is a non-parametric comparison method used to analyze the relationship between two variables that have a nominal data scale. The population in this study were all students from the Faculty of Medicine, Wijaya Kusuma University, Surabaya Class of 2021. Data analysis used the Chi Square Test. The results of statistical tests using Chi Square showed a P value of 0.00> 0.05. H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected, which means there is a relationship between the habit of delaying urination and the incidence of urinary tract infections in students at the Faculty of Medicine, Wijaya Kusuma University, Surabaya, Class of 2021.
