Abstract
This study aims to identify colibacillosis and histopathological features of the caecum of broiler chickens infected with Escherichia coli in the Surabaya live market. The total samples obtained were two samples from one live market in the city of Surabaya. The test methods used to detect Escehrichia coli bacteria in this research were cultivation on MacConkey Agar (MCA) media, Gram staining, biochemical tests and Blood Agar (BA). A method for viewing histopathological images through changes in lesions such as hemorrhage and necrosis in semiquantitative form using a scoring method. The data obtained were analyzed using the Independent sample T test. An important factor that influences the presence of Escherichia coli bacteria is poor cage sanitation and the environment, while the cecum itself depends on the level of severity caused by Escherichia coli bacteria. Keywords: Escherichia coli, cecum, Blood Agar (BA), necrosis, hemorrhage
