Advisor: Siti Azizah,S.Pd.,M.Pd Keyword: : Reading skill, Technique, Questioning. Learning a foreign language is very important for us especially English language, questioning as a teaching technique to motivate Junior High School students in reading English. To use the technique effectively, the teacher must be familiar with stages of questioning which are suitable with children’s level. Questioning is the technique to help the students understand the passage easily. It has four strategies such as predicting, clarifying, questioning and summarizing. Besides, the teacher must select the text carefully before using all of stages of questioning in teaching reading.
