Abstract

SUKMAWATI, FITRIA AINUR ROHMAH. 2021. “Improving Students Skill in Writing Descriptive text Using Picture Series for Seventh Grade of SMP Kawung 2 Surabaya”. Essay. English Department Language and Science Faculty: University of Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya. Advisor : (I) Dra. Bekti Wirawati, M.Pd. (II) Drs. H. Heru Wibowo, M.Pd. The purpose of this study is to improve students' descriptive text writing skills in class VII SMP Kawung 2 Surabaya using picture series media. This study included 21 students as participants. Classroom Action Research Design (CAR) was used in this study. The researcher collaborated with the English teacher of SMP Kawung 2 Surabaya as an observer and carried out. The result of the student scores at the conclusion of each cycle and the KKM (9.5% in the pre-cycle) In the first cycle, 43% of students passed the KKM. In the second cycle, 76% of students passed the KKM. These results may be used to improve students' descriptive text writing skills in seventh grade A at SMP Kawung 2 Surabaya.
