Abstract
The research to determine the presence or absence of ectoparasite infestations in domestic cats (Felis catus) in the traditional markets Sidoarjo Distric. The study was a survey and descriptive research. This research used samples of domestic cats in the traditional market of Sidoarjo District, by examining the presence of ectoparasite infestations. In sample the metodh used is a systematic purposive sampling. The obtain ectoparasite samples were identified by placing the sample on an obect glass and dripping with KOH 10% and then observasing it under a microscope 100x – 400x. The cats that were caught and examined were found to be 36 from 4 traditional markets Sidoarjo Distric.The types of ectoparasite found were the mite Sarcoptes scabiei and the mite Otodectes cynootis. The results of data analysis using the Chi-square test. Comparisons between male and female cats, comparisons between male cats and kittens, comparisons between female cats and kittens can be ascertained that the Chi-Square Test is not significantly different Keywords : Domestic cats, Traditional market, Ectoparasite, Sarcoptes scabiei, Otodectes cynotis, Sidoarjo.
