Abstract
This research aimed to determine the effects of dietary microbial phytase from L. plantarum A1-E and C. tropicalis TKd-3 in feed on histomorphology of ileum and liver in broiler chicken. This study used 60 day old chicken Cobb broilers divided into four equal groups with 15 replications in each group given basal feed (FA/negative control), basal feed with phytase from L. plantarum A1-E (FB), basal feed with phytase from C. tropicalis TKd-3 (FC), and basal feed with commercial phytase microtech® (FD/comparison group). The treatment was given by mixing the dietary microbial phytase with basal feed started on day eight until day 28 then carried out to the necropsy for ileum and liver organ sampling. Those samples were made to be histopathological slides to examine the ileum villus surface area and histopathological alteration fatty degeneration and necrosis in liver. The quantitative data of ileum villus surface area obtained analyzed with ANOVA test, while semi-quantitative data of fatty degeneration and necrosis in liver analyzed with Kruskall-Wallis test. The result of statistical analysis with ANOVA test showed that there were significant differences in ileum villus surface area (P<0,05). The results of statistical analysis with Kruskal-Wallis test showed that there were no significant differences (P>0,05) in both fatty degeneration and necrosis in broiler chicken liver. The result of this research indicates that dietary microbial phytase from L. plantarum A1-E and C. tropicalis TKd-3 in feed improves ileum villus surface area, and also does not induce histopathological alteration fatty degeneration and necrosis in broiler chicken liver.
