Abstract
Staphylococcus aureus is a microorganism that can cause infection. This bacteria is gram-positive bacteria and can be found as normal flora in the nose. Staphylococcus aureus can lead to infections of varying severity, one of which is respiratory infection to sepsis (Haryadi et al, 2010). Utilization of the fruit has become a therapy used for health, one of the many fruits that are used in the health sector, among others, the mangosteen fruit. The content contained in mangosteen peel has antioxidant properties called xanthones. Xanthones on mangosteen peel have been widely used and processed by the community for anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties (Raharjati and Puspawati, 2013). From this background, the authors are interested in conducting further research on the inhibition effectiveness of xanthones against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus.
