Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus has 4 main pillars consisting as counseling, diet, physical exercise and hypoglycemic drugs. However, the success of hypoglycemic drug therapy is a major component of the successful management of DM. Meanwhile, adherence to treatment is one of the obstacles for DM sufferers. From this description, this study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and motivation with medication adherence to DM patients at West Denpasar Community Health Center II, where the population used is all DM patients who seek treatment at West Denpasar Health Center II monthly with a large sample size. taken as many as 40 people. Furthermore, the independent variables in this study are knowledge and motivation while the dependent variable is medication adherence. The data in this study were analyzed using the Rank Spearman statistical test. Based on the results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge and motivation with adherence to taking medication in DM patients at Puskesmas II Denpasar Barat.
