Abstract

In Indonesia, many people use natural plants as a means of treatment. Some of the plants that are often used are the binahong plant (Anredera cordifolia) which is believed to have anti-bacterial effects. Binahong leaves contain flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, and trepenoid compounds where these substances are able to act as anti-bacteria, especially Staphylococcus aureus which often causes several clinical manifestations on the skin. This study aims to determine the effect of binahong leaf extract (Anredera cordifolia) on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus by the dilution method. This type of research is a laboratory experimental research design with a post test only control group design consisting of a positive control group, a negative control group and a binahong leaf extract (Anredera cordifolia) with various concentrations of 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%. . The results of this study were the inhibition of binahong leaf extract (Anredera cordifolia) against bacteria Staphylococcus aureus with a minimum inhibitory level at a concentration of 40% which was marked by a decrease in the number of bacterial colonies compared to negative controls. The data analysis used in this study was the oneway ANOVA test and multiple regression test.
