Abstract
This aimed of study to determined the larvicidal power of fragrant sereh leaves (Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle) against Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes, and as an alternative to chemical abate (temephos). Culex quinquefasciatus larvae used were 240 instars III. The research design used complete randomized design with 6 treatments and 4 replications. The six treatments were P0 (mineral water as negative control), P1 (0.1gr / 1tr abate), P2 (20% fragrant sereh leaf extract), P3 (30% fragrant sereh leaf extract), P4 (40% fragrant sereh leaf extract), P5 (50% fragrant sereh leaf extract). The Culex quinquefasciatus mosquito larvae are observed every hour for 24 hours. The data obtained were analyzed by One way ANOVA and continued by Duncan test. Result showed that the concentration of sereh leaves (Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle) was a powerful influence against the death of the larvae. the One Way ANOVA founded that the sig value 0,000 (p< 0.05), which means there a real difference between treatment. The result of Duncan Test on 50% of sereh extract showed that is has high larvasida. Thus, the study concluded that the sereh leaf extract (Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle) has larvasida power to the Culex quimquefasciatus mosquito..
