Abstract

Poverty is a very serious problem faced in several parts of the world. Developed countries or developing countries are very concerned about poverty as an important indicator because the aspect of poverty is a very complex problem concerning various other aspects such as food, wages for labor, employment and so on. This has become very serious in Indonesia, and especially in East Java. The poverty level is an important indicator that can be a barometer or a reference for measuring the level of welfare of the people in East Java. The model in this study uses multiple linear regression analysis through the GLS method by using 2011- 2017 time series data and cross section 20 districs/city East Java province or called panel data. The sample used secondary data published by the Central Statistics Agency (CSA) with random sampling (data collection) techniques. The model testing in this study uses a random effect model (REM). Aim to find out the factors that influence poverty in East Java, including constant 2010 GDP per capita, Regional Minimum Wages, and Unemployment. The results of the multiple linear regression estimation study show that the regression analysis at α 5%, the GRDP variable, the Regional Minimum Wage, on the poverty level each has a negative and significant effect on the poverty level while the Unemployment variable has a positive and significant influence on the poverty level. Keywords: Poverty, GRDP, regional minimum wages, and unemployment.
