Abstract

The Relation of Smoking inside The House with The Appearance of Pneumonia Incidence in The Child Under The Age of Five Years (Toddler) at Puskesmas Sooko Kabupaten Mojokerto . Final Assignment. Medical Faculty of Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya. Prof. H. Didik Sarudji., M.Sc. Pneumonia in the children under the age of five years is the second leading cause of death after diarrhea with a proportion of 15.5%. Pneumonia always goes into the top 10 death diseases in Indonesia. In 2011, total cases of pneumonia in the children under the age of five years was 480,033 or equal to 20.59%. Cases of pneumonia have increased since 2002 by 7.6% and in 2007 by 11.2%. The purpose of this study was to correlate the habit of smoking in the house to the incidence of pneumonia in the children under the age of five years (toddler). The method of research in this final assignment is analytic observational research and done by spreading the questionnaire, with case control design. In this study, the results showed that from 100% of respondents who smoked inside the house there were 44.2% of children under the age of five years had pneumonia and 55.8% of them did not have pneumonia. While from 100% of respondents who do not smoke insede the house there are 15.4% of children under the age of five years who have pneumonia and 84.6% of them are not affected by pneumonia. The results of this study are in accordance with that conducted by Karlinda and Warni (2012) in Bengkulu, there is a significant relationship between the existence of family members who smoke with the incidence of pneumonia in toddler For the community, especially mothers who have children under the age of five years in Mojokerto to give priority to the importance of paying attention to house ventilation for dirty air circulation such as from cigarette smoke or smoke of mosquito repellent.
