Abstract

The banking industry is faced with competition in national and international financial markets (Taswan, 2010). This research has purpose to know the strategy and interaction of conventional banking industry and sharia after the coming of Asean Economic Community (AEC) in Indonesia. Methods The analysis of the research is analysis hierarchi process (AHP) and game theory synthesis. Conventional banking research instruments are agreements, district courts and arbitration institutions, boards of directors, conventional businesses, and professional work environments. Islamic banking research instruments are akad, BAMUI, syariah supervisory board, sharia and trust business, fathanah and tabligh. The results showed that the competition level of the banking industry is dominated by the interest rate system rather than the profit sharing system because it is more flexible and competitive. The dominant strategy of the conventional banking industry is through conventional businesses capable of covering all sectors of the economy. The dominant strategy of sharia banking industry is akad, BAMUI, sharia supervisory board, and amanah, fathonah, tabligh. The interaction of conventional banking industry and sharia banking following the enactment of Asean Economic Community (AEC) in Indonesia is dominated by sharia banking strategy in the aspects of environment application and working atmosphere of Amanah, Fathonah, Tabligh.
