Abstract

ABSTRACT This purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of turmeric powder (Curcuma domestica Val.) and tamarind (Tamarindus indica L). In commercial feed of the liver weight and abdominal in quail male (Coturnic coturnic japonica). This research used Completely Randomized Design (RAL). 24 quail male aged 3 weeks divided into 4 groups of treatment of turmeric powder and tamarind (P0 = control, un-treated P1 = 10% turmeric powder and tamarind P2 = 20% turmeric powder and tamarind P3 = 30% turmeric powder and tamarind). Each treatment group used 6 quails male. Each quail male was given twice daily and drinking was given administered on ad libitum for 28 days. On the 29th day, necropsation was performed for weighting of the abdomen and liver. The data obtained were analyzed by Anova test and when showed a real difference, then the analysis was continued with Duncan test with α 0.05. Based on the result of the value of Fcount = 0,531 and Ftable = 0,666 (p> 0,05) this shows that there was no effectiveness of turmeric powder and tamarind (Curcuma domestica Val. - Tamarindus indica L) in commercial feed of the liver weight quail male (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Based on the result of Fcount = 0,666 and Ftabel = 0,583 (p> 0,05) this shows that there was no effectivity of turmeric powder and tamarind (Curcuma domestica Val - Tamarindus indica L) in commercial feed of the abdominal weight quail male (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Active substances in turmeric and tamarind allegedly not enough effect to reduce the percentage of abdominal fat, probably because the level used was too low.
