Abstract

Nara, Ruchyad. 2018. The Influence of Cigarette Smoke Exposure Against Dry Eye Syndrome Evaluation Rate to Students Faculty of Medicine, University of Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya. Final Assignment, Doctor Education Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya University. Counselor: Prof. Lestari Basoeki S. Sp. KJ (K) Cigarette smoke contains more than 4000 toxic chemicals and 43 cancer-causing substances (carcinogenic). Cigarette smoke can also increase the risk of dry eye syndrome. This research is included in analytic observational type, which is non experimental and aims to explain the effect of cigarette smoke on Dry Eye Syndrome incident to students of Faculty of Medicine, Wijaya Kusuma University of Surabaya, 2014-2015 Generation. In this study the respondents were divided into 3 groups, namely direct exposure, indirect exposure and minimal exposure. The result of the research is Chi-square and the value of phi in each variable is 0.000, 0.755, and 0.590. The conclusions of the results obtained are only direct exposure that have significant influence while indirect and minimal exposure has no effect.
