Abstract

In the realm of high school education, the teaching of listening skills presents a critical challenge due to students' struggles with distractions, accents, and concentration, hindering effective communication comprehension. This study delves into the multifaceted levels of listening, emphasizing the importance of extensive listening, responsive listening, selective processing, and significant listening in enhancing language proficiency and interpersonal communication. By leveraging English songs as a medium for teaching listening, educators can create a dynamic learning environment that immerses students in diverse linguistic styles and thematic content, fostering a nuanced understanding of language nuances and cultural cues. The purpose of this research is to explore the efficacy of incorporating songs as pedagogical tools to enrich students' listening proficiency and cultural awareness. Ultimately, the study aims to provide educators with targeted interventions to enhance students' ability to decode and interpret various forms of spoken language, fostering a holistic approach to language learning that goes beyond mere acquisition to encompass a deep appreciation for linguistic expressions and cultural nuances.
