Abstract

============================================================ Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) have been widely utilized in agriculture as biofertilizers and biocontrol agents. The application of liquid fertilizer derived from LAB on plants and soil is hypothesized to enhance plant health and stimulate growth. Furthermore, LAB-based agricultural products are recognized for being safe, eco- friendly, cost-effective, and quick to develop. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of LAB serum application on the growth and yield of Baby Corn (Zea Mays L.) using varying concentrations of LAB serum. The research was conducted at the Navy Housing Complex in Medokan Semampir, Surabaya, from June to November 2024. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was employed, consisting of four treatments replicated six times, resulting in a total of 24 plants. The treatments were as follows: A0 = 0 ml LAB/plant, A1 = 30 ml LAB/plant, A2 = 40 ml LAB/plant, and A3 = 50 ml LAB/plant. Parameters measured included plant height, number of leaves, number of Baby Corn per plant, wet weight of the plant, dry weight of the plant, and the weight of Baby Corn both with and without the cob. The findings of the study revealed that LAB application significantly influenced plant growth, although no notable differences were observed across the various doses tested in terms of growth parameters. Treatment A2 (40 ml LAB) yielded the most significant results for the number of Baby Corn (2.00) and the weight of Baby Corn with cob (59.50 grams), while all LAB doses demonstrated similar effects on the weight of Baby Corn without cob (27.67–31.17 grams).
