Abstract
This research was conducted to find out whether YouTube videos can improve students’' skills in writing procedure texts for class VII C at SMP Kawung 2 Surabaya. The research subjects consisted of 31 students’ of class VII C. In conducting this research, the researcher used Classroom Action Research (PTK) as a research method. Researchers used the Kemmis et al., 2014 model design. Then, researchers and class VII C English teachers at SMP Kawung 2 Surabaya collaborated in conducting this research. The researcher acts as a teacher and the English teacher as an observer and collaborator. Researchers teach writing procedure texts using YouTube videos. This research was conducted by following action research procedures: planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The research was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of one meeting. Data collection in this research was through observation sheets, writing tests, and documentation. The research results showed that there was an increase in students’' skills in writing procedure texts using YouTube. Most students’ gradually obtained good grades in the second cycle. The Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) score for English lessons is 75. The class percentage in the preliminary study is 12,9%. Apart from that, the class percentage showed that 48.38% of students’ had completed the KKM in cycle I and 80.64% of students’ had completed KKM in cycle II. This means that this research has achieved the success criteria; 75% of students’ can pass the KKM. Apart from that, class conditions during the teaching and learning process also get better with each cycle. Apart from that, there was a positive response from English teachers and students’ towards the implementation of this action. So, it can be concluded that YouTube improve students’' skills in writing procedure texts. Key words: Writing Skill, Procedure Text, Video YouTube
