Abstract

Theft committed by children is caused by several factors that encourage criminal acts that tend to make the behavior of these children deviant. One example of deviant behavior that disturbs the community that occurred in Ambon is the perpetrator with the initials "FN" was convicted of theft (Article 363 Paragraph 1 Ke-(3) and (5) Criminal Code and sentenced to three (3) months. The formulation of this research problem is, what are the factors that cause children to commit theft crimes in a criminological perspective and what are the effort that can be made against theft crimes committed by childen. This research method is juridical sociology (empiri), which is research that is able to provide a detailed description and analysis of the quality or content of a human experience. The research approach method is Qualitative Research, Research data sources include primary and secondary data, Determination of this research sample is purposive sampling, Collection techniques are through interviews, documentation, observation, and literature study, and data analysis using descriptive-qualitative analysis. The results of the study include, among others, the factors that cause children to commit theft in the perspective of criminology including internal factors in the form of family factors, economic factors, low levels of education while external factors in the form of environmental factors and parental supervision factors. Social rehabilitation-oriented countermeasures against Andikpas with theft cases at the Class II Special Development Institution for Children consist of coaching in the form of education, skills development and independence development. The recommendations include, among others, that parents and the closest family should always increase the function of control and supervision of children so that children avoid the rise of theft crimes and for the community to increase security in the surrounding environment by creating a good and positive environmental atmosphere in carrying out activities in order to overcome and prevent children from being involved in free association and crime. To the Class II Ambon Children's Special Development Institution in order to be able to supervise children not only while in coaching at LPKA but after they are declared free and need to be more active through foster parents to Andikpas by approaching persuasively in order to learn in depth the character of a child who is undergoing a period of punishment.
