Abstract
The selection of Qatar to host the 2022 World Cup has raised many doubts from other countries. This happened because of the circulation of the issue of alleged bribes to FIFA, extreme weather in the Middle East region, a bad history of migrant workers, and security in the Middle East region which is considered unstable. The Kafala system, which is Qatar's labor system, especially in its application in preparation for the 2022 World Cup, has drawn various criticisms from the international world. The ILO as an International Labor Organization is working with the Government of Qatar in reforming its labor system to comply with international labor standards. In addition, the role of the ILO in developing programs that have a positive impact on workers is also a form of protection of the rights of migrant workers. In addition to demands for the abolition of the Kafala System, demands for Qatar's responsibility for migrant workers after the 2022 World Cup are also things that Qatar needs to do until now. This research entitled Legal Protection of Migrant Workers in Qatar Ahead of the 2022 World Cup Based on the International Labor Organization (ILO) Convention aims to find out the role of the ILO in providing legal protection for migrant workers who experience forced labor in preparation for the 2022 World Cup. The research method in this writing uses a normative method through a legislative approach, case approach and conceptual approach. Keywords: International Labour Organization, Migrant Workers, Kafala System, Human Rights
