Abstract

ABSTRACT A growing number of urban communities, the more waste generated in every activity that takes place. Utilization of urban organic waste as well as the utilization of marine sediments resulting from dredging is a solution to reduce the impact of garbage that accumulate. This study aims to determine whether the sedimentary land of Surabaya waters can be used as a medium of agricultural cultivation of the city, with the addition of organic compost of urban waste that will serve as a planting medium. This research uses factorial with two factors (Factor I and Factor II) arranged in Randomized Block Design (RAK) with combination of treatment between sedimentary soil and compost of city waste with 2 directions to get 20 treatments and repeated 3 times, with all experiment get done with 60 experiments This research was conducted in research gardens of Merdeka University, Surabaya. This research takes approximately 4 months, conducted on January 10, 2018 until April 10, 2018. The result of the calculation in this research is that the use of the (I) factor of the best sedimentary land to be used as a medium of green mustard planting is the land of sewer road. Factor (II) for the addition of the best compost for planting medium with the size of polybag 40cm (10Kg) is the addition of compost as much as 20% or (B2). However, for the combined factors of treatment (I) and (II) there was no apparent interaction in the growth process of the mustard greens.
