Abstract

ABSTRACT The principle of territorial integrity is contained in uti possidetis principle. This principle as one of the principles of general law has been recognized by civilized states which can be used as one of the guidelines for determining the territory or boundaries of a state following the territories or boundaries of colonial powers or their predecessors. The Unitary State of Republic of Indonesia determines its land and sea boundaries based on this principle, as does Papua. This study uses normative research type with a case approach and conceptual approach. Based on the concept of international law, the territory of the Unitary State of Republic of Indonesia is the entire territory inherited from the Dutch colonialist, in accordance with the principle of Uti Possidetis which bases that the state inherits the territory of its colonial.
