Abstract

COMPARISON OF THE EFFECT OF Snail (Achtatina fulica) AND BIOPLACENTON SUBSTANCE ON THE RATE OF BURN HEALING IN WHITE RATS (Rattus norvegicus) Wardiman Jaya Rahman ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the effect of giving snail mucus (Achtatina fulica) on the healing rate of burns in white rats (Rattus norvegicus). The experimental animals used in this study were 27 white rats which were divided into 3 treatment groups, namely negative control without treatment, positive control with Bioplacenton® and treatment group 1 with snail slime. Experimental rats were given burns with a diameter of ± 2 cm before being treated. Rats in positive control will be treated with bioplacenton ointment 2 times a day, negative control without treatment, and treatment group 1 will be given snail mucus with a concentration of 100% 2 times for 15 days. Scoring of wounds, degrees of inflammation and edema was carried out every 3 days, data was collected and then analyzed using the One Way Anova test followed by the Kruskal Wallis test. There was a significant increase in wound diameter parameters in the Bioplacenton® group on days 3, 6, 9, and 12 with an average standard deviation of 23.05b±4.09a, 23.49b±2.70a, 19.84b±3.54a, 21.80b± 4.21a, the snail slime group on days 9 and 15 were 23.49b± 2.70a and 20.62b± 3.72a. Inflammation parameters obtained from the negative control group kruskall-wallis test 22.17±1.68a, Bioplacenton® 8.83±0.88b and snail mucus 11.00±1.10c. The results of the edema parameter in the kruskall-Wallis test were negative 5.89±1.67a, Bioplacenton® 18.50±1.58b, and snail mucus 17.61±1.49c. Inflammation and edema parameters increased significantly with p < 0.05. Keywords : Achtatina fulica, Rattus norvegicus, Wound Diameter, Inflammation, Edema, Bioplacenton®
