Abstract

COMPARISON OF LUNG HISTOPATHOLOGICAL IMAGES EXPOSED TO RICE STRAW SMOKE AND CORN COB SMOKE IN MICE MALE (Mus musculus) Naufal Farros Satria ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the comparison of histopathological changes between exposure to rice straw smoke and exposure tocorncob smoke in male mice (Mus musculus). The experimental animals used were 21 male mice. The design used was a complete randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 2 replications. Those three treatments were P0 (control), P1 which was exposed to rice straw smoke for 14 days straight in the morning and evening by using inhalation, and P2 which was exposed to corncob smoke for 14 days straight in the morning and evening by using inhalation. On the 15th day, a surgery was performed using laparotomy on themice that had been necropsied and euthanized by cervical dislocation. The data obtained were analyzed using the Kruskal Wallis test, and continued with the Mann Whitney test using SPSS version 17. The result showed that there was a significant difference (P<0.05) on the parameters of inflammatory cell infiltration and necrosis while there was no significant difference in the edema parameter (P>0.05). It means that the exposure to rice straw and corncob smoke affected the histopathological changes in the lungs of male mice by stained Haematoxylin Eosin.
