Abstract
Nutritional status is important for school-age children because during this period growth and development really need a nutritional supply. National Basic Health Research data for 2014 shows that 11.2 percent of children aged 6 to 12 years old have malnutrition problems, while 18.8 percent has problems with excess nutrition. One of the causes of nutritional status problems in society is related to family socioeconomic status. The research aims to determine the relation between family socioeconomic status and the nutritional status of children at school age. The research method applies a survey with correlation techniques. Population in this research is all parents and children in grades 4 and 5 in elementary schools who attended SDN Lombang I Gili Raja with a sample of 30 respondents taken by total sampling. Instrument in this research was a questionnaire, rank Spearman test analysis with a significance level of 0,05. The result indicates that 63,3 percent have a good nutritional status with 73.3 percent of middle family socioeconomic status. The spearman rank test results showed the value of P = 0,001 < 0,05, which means that there is a significant relation between family socioeconomic status and the children nutritional status in 4 and 5 grade in SDN Lombang I Gili Raja. Thus, it can be concluded that the better family socioeconomic status concept, so it also can make children nutritional status better. It is hoped that health workers will provide counseling to parents about the importance of optimal children's nutritional status in order to avoid malnutrition and excess nutrition which will have a negative impact on children's lives.
