Abstract
Plants are a source of various types of chemical compounds that have many benefits, one of which is antibacterial. Herbal plant extracts such as ethanol extract of fragrant pandan leaves, roselle flower boiled water, sansevieria leaves extract and moringa leaves extract have active substances such as flavonoids, alkaloids and saponins which can inhibit the growth of bacteria, one of which is the Escherichia coli bacteria. This study aims to determine which herbal plant extract has the strongest inhibition of Escherichia coli bacteria growth by comparing the diameter of the formed inhibition zone. The results obtained by the researchers showed that the extract of moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera L.) at a concentration of 60% had the highest inhibitory response strength in inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria with an inhibition zone diameter of 22.66mm. Of the four herbal plants that have antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli the strongest is extract of moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera L.).
