Abstract
This study want to give some explanation in teaching reading by using short story. Reading is the most useful skill and has an important role in human being’s life. Through reading, everyone can get information about science, and technology that perhaps they do not know before. Reading is the most efficient way to acquire information about many expect in the life, since most of available information is delivered in printed media such as journals, newspaper, magazine, and books. In teaching they are many strategy can be implemented, one of the east short story. Short story is a way of teaching reading where students are all given different quotes or work on a card from the text that they will red. After all students have share they the cards, students need in small group to discuss what they thing the story is about and then write join, then before reading the text is for its small group to share they statement. The short story strategy give the changes to students to find the meaning of what or class given be predicting and sharing ideas to other students in the classroom. The short story a changes to consider active participation with the text and gives active adolescent to get up and move around the classroom. This prereading strategy allows students to practice what they thing will happen in the text as they make inferences, she causal relationship, compare and contrast, practice sequencing, and draw on their prior experiences.
