Abstract

Hiperkolesterolemia merupakan gangguan metabolisme lipid yang berhubungan dengan peningkatan risiko penyakit kardiovaskular, terutama melalui peningkatan kadar low-density lipoprotein (LDL) dan gangguan fungsi high-density lipoprotein (HDL). Bawang putih (Allium sativum) dan pare (Momordica charantia) mengandung senyawa bioaktif yang berdasarkan penelitian terdahulu diduga berperan sebagai agen hipolipidemik dan antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak bawang putih dan pare terhadap kadar HDL dan LDL pada tikus putih model hiperkolesterolemia. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain true experimental dengan tujuh kelompok perlakuan, yaitu kontrol negatif, kontrol positif diet tinggi lemak, simvastatin, ekstrak bawang putih 300 mg/kgBB, ekstrak bawang putih 600 mg/kgBB, ekstrak pare 300 mg/kgBB, dan ekstrak pare 600 mg/kgBB. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 35 ekor tikus putih jantan galur Sprague-Dawley yang dibagi ke dalam tujuh kelompok, masing-masing terdiri atas lima ekor tikus. Parameter utama yang diukur adalah kadar HDL dan LDL serum setelah perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan bermakna antarkelompok pada kadar HDL dan LDL dengan nilai p<0,05. Kelompok kontrol positif menunjukkan kadar LDL tertinggi, yaitu 95,33±38,46 mg/dL. Kelompok bawang putih dosis 600 mg/kgBB menunjukkan kadar LDL terendah di antara kelompok herbal, yaitu 57,88±3,32 mg/dL, dengan selisih 37,45 mg/dL atau 39,28% dibandingkan kontrol positif. Kelompok pare dosis 300 mg/kgBB menunjukkan kadar LDL sebesar 60,67±9,78 mg/dL, dengan selisih 34,66 mg/dL atau 36,36% dibandingkan kontrol positif, serta kadar HDL yang relatif lebih tinggi dibandingkan bawang putih dosis 600 mg/kgBB. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pemberian ekstrak bawang putih dan pare berpengaruh terhadap kadar HDL dan LDL pada tikus putih model hiperkolesterolemia. Bawang putih dosis 600 mg/kgBB menunjukkan efek paling menonjol terhadap penurunan LDL, sedangkan pare dosis 300 mg/kgBB menunjukkan pola yang relatif lebih baik dalam mempertahankan kadar HDL.
