Abstract

Yasmin Muntaz, 22620023 Improving Writing Skill on Descriptive Text Through Padlet Class at X Student in SMA Hang Tauh 1 Surabaya. Thesis, Department of English Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya University, 2026.Writing is an essential English skill that enables students to express their ideas in written form. However, many tenth-grade students experience difficulties in writing descriptive texts, particularly in generating ideas, organizing paragraphs, using appropriate vocabulary, and applying correct grammar. Therefore, this study aimed to improve students' descriptive writing skills through the use of Padlet. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research involved 27 students of Class X E.5 at SMA Hang Tuah 1 Surabaya. Data were collected through observation sheets and writing tests and analysed based on five aspects of writing: content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics. The findings showed that the implementation of Padlet improved both students' writing performance and classroom participation. Students became more active in generating ideas, collaborating with peers, providing feedback, and revising their writing. Overall, Padlet proved to be an effective digital learning medium for improving students' descriptive writing skills and promoting a more interactive learning environment.
