Abstract

This study aimed to identify the morphology of bacteriophages infecting Pseudomonas putida isolated from the feces of swiftlets. Pseudomonas putida played a role in oxidizing ammonia into nitrite and nitrate, affecting the quality of the nests. The culture of Pseudomonas putida was performed using the streak method on BHIB and TSA media. A spot test was used to detect bacteriophages by dropping phage filtrate onto TSA media containing Pseudomonas putida and incubating it for 24 hours at 30ºC. Phage enrichment was performed by adding phage stock to SM buffer and inoculating it into media containing Pseudomonas putida culture. Turbid plaques indicated the inefficiency of the bacteriophage in lysing the bacteria. Keywords: Pseudomonas putida, Bacteriophage, Feces, Aerodramus fuciphagus, Morphology
