Abstract

This research aimed to find out whether the use of Kahoot as a digital learning media can improve students’ reading comprehension at the tenth grade of SMA Hang Tuah 1 Surabaya. The subject of the study was class X-7, consisting of 34 students. This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle followed the stages of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data were collected through reading comprehension tests and classroom observations, using test and observation checklists as the instruments. This research was conducted in collaboration with the English teacher of SMA Hang Tuah 1 Surabaya. The results showed that in Cycle 1, only 22 students (71%) achieved the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) of 75. After revising the teaching strategy in Cycle 2, 21 students (77.8%) successfully passed the KKM, meeting the success indicator of the study. It can be concluded that the implementation of Kahoot as a digital learning media successfully improved the students’ reading comprehension in class X-7 of SMA Hang Tuah 1 Surabaya.
