Abstract
This study aimed to identify the presence and resistance levels of Salmonella sp. bacteria to the antibiotics tetracycline, ciprofloxacin, and gentamicin in raw cow’s milk from Galangdewo Village, Wonosalam District, Jombang Regency. A total of 100 milk samples were collected from 100 dairy cow sheds and tested using the culture method with Tetrathionate Broth as the enrichment medium, followed by isolation on Salmonella Shigella Agar (SSA), and identification of Salmonella sp. through Gram staining and biochemical tests (TSIA, SCA, SIM, Urease, MR, and VP). The results showed that 10% of the milk samples tested positive for Salmonella sp. Antibiotic resistance testing using the Kirby-Bauer method on Mueller Hinton Agar revealed resistance rates of Salmonella sp. to tetracycline at 40%, gentamicin at 30%, and ciprofloxacin at 10%. These findings highlight the importance of monitoring antibiotic use and implementing proper sanitation practices in dairy farming to reduce the risk of spreading antibiotic-resistant pathogenic bacteria through milk products.
