Abstract

The aim of this study is to enhance the writing abilities of students in class Eight A Junior High School 2 Kawung in Surabaya by utilizing Project Based Learning models for recount texts. There were 29 students in this subject. The Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach is used in this study. Collaborative class action research is the type of class action research design used in this study. As an observer, the researcher worked with an English instructor from Kawung 2 Junior High School. Two cycles of this research were conducted in order to obtain a success indicator. The students final score at the conclusion of each cycle shows the outcome. 48,27% of students in the pre-cycle were able to acquire KKM; in the first cycle, that number rose to 62.06%. KKM, it improved to be 62.06% of then could achieve KKM, in the first cycle. Then in the second cycle 86.20% of students could achieve KKM, from the result, it can be concluded that using Project Based Learning models can be used to improve students of Eight Grade Class A SMP Kawung 2 Surabaya in Recount text.
