Abstract

The aimed of this study is to find that Instagram, as one of the most students’ favorite application, can help students to improve their writing recount paragraph skill. Whereas, learning how to write is very exciting and fun if the teacher is able to make the pleasing condition Instagram has some essential tools that could benefit for educational purposes related to special intelligence and linguistic intelligence, Wiktor.K (2012). This would make the class more fun because the teacher involved an Instagram that is their favorite application. This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR) which the subject was 35 students at 8f class in SMPN 43 Surabaya. In this class, only 46% students who reach the passing score standard. To complete this study is needed two cycles. In the first cycle, the percentage of students who reach the passing score standard was 71%. Since the number of percentage did not reach the passing score standard (≥78), the second cycle was held. Then in the second cycle, there were 91% students who reach the passing score standard. It is indicated that the use of Instagram can improve the students’ writing recount paragraph skill.
