Abstract

POTENTIAL EXTRACT OF KOMBUCHA TEA (Medusomyces gisevii) IN WHITE RATS (Rattus norvegicus) Induced Escherichia coli LOOKS FROM WEIGHT AND DUODENUM HISTOPATOLOGY Yuriska Nurhastuti ABSTRACT This study was aimed to determine the potential of kombucha tea extract (Medusomyces gisevii) in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by Escherichia coli looked from body weight and duodenal histopathological. This study used completely randomized design. The samples used 24 white rats (Rattus norvegicus) were divided into 6 treatment groups and 4 replications, namely negative control group (P0), positive control group (P1), treatment group given kombucha tea extract (Medusomyces gisevii) with 30% concentration (P2), 40% concentration (P3 ), 50% concentration (P4), and 60% concentration (P5). The extract was given 1 ml for 28 days. P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5 were induced by 1 ml of Escherichia coli 106 cfu/ml on the 36th day. Body weight measurements were executed on the 7th, 35th, 36th, and 40th days. Organ harvesting was executed on the 40th day. Data analysis used ANOVA and Tukey BNJ tests. The results showed there was very significant difference between the treatment group and control group. Optimal results were obtained at P3 with weight gain 60.25 grams, necrosis score 1.50, inflammatory cell infiltration score 2.50 and hemorrhage score 0.00. Conclusion of this research kombucha tea extract has the potential to prevent weight loss and histopathological damage on duodenum. Keywords: Escherichia coli, Rattus norvegicus, Kombucha tea, Duodenum, Weight.
