Abstract

Background : Tubercolusis (TB) is infectius diseasa caused by mycobacterium tubercolusis. One of the factors that influences the possibility of getting pulmonary TB disease is poor nutritional status. Indicator’s to determine nutritional status is to calculate BMI. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of body mass index (BMI) with serum albumin and hemoglobin concentrations in lung patients. Method: This study used a cross sectional study, with 30 respondents. The study was conducted during May-June 2019 using laboratory research and anthropometric. Result: The results of this study 40% of respondents had a thin BMI with a low serum albumin concentration of around 30% and less than normal hemoglobin amounted to 26.7%. This study uses two tests with nominal data scales. Chi Square test obtained p-value = 0.001 on the correlation of BMI and serum albumin concentration and p-value = 0.002. The correlation of BMI and hemoglobin concentration which means that there is a significant correlation of body mass index and serum albumin concentration and hemoglobin in tuberculosis patients in Balongbendo Health Center. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study, there was correlation of body mass index with serum albumin concentration and hemoglobin with tuberculosis. Keywords: Body Mass Index, Serum Albumin Concentration, Hemoglobin Concentration, Tuberculosis
