Abstract

This study aimed to find out the comparison of tracheal histopathological picture due to exposure to conventional cigarette smoke and herbal cigarettes in mice (Mus musculus). A type of experimental research with a complete randomized design (CRD). The sample used was 21 mice that were divided into 3 treatment groups and 7 treatment repeats described as follows: Group P0 (control)placebo, P1 treatment given exposure to conventional cigarette smoke and P2 treatment with exposure to herbal cigarette smoke. Parameters was necrosis, degeneration and thickening of the mucosa in tracheal tissue. The results showed that there were significant differences in the value of necrosis, degeneration and thickening of tracheal tissue mucosa in the control group (P0) compared to the treatment group of conventional cigarettes (P1) and herbal cigarettes (P2) (P<0.05) and could not be meaningful differences in the value of necrosis, degeneration and thickening of tracheal tissue mucosa in the treatment group of conventional cigarettes and herbal cigarettes. The conclusion of this study was that conventional cigarettes and herbal cigarettes can induce the occurrence of necrosis, degeneration and thickening of the mucosa of mencit tracheal tissue (Mus Musculus).
