Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease that must be controlled and treated for life. The large number of hypertension sufferers who do not adhere to taking medication, so there is an increased risk of complications and death. The study aims to determine the correlation of knowledge and motivation with medication adherence of patients with hypertension. The type of this research was analisis correlationa with cross sectional study. Samples was selected by purposive sampling as much as 60 people. Methods collection of the data was using questionnaires about medication adherence, knowledge, and motivation. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate with Rank Spearmen test. The prevalence of patients whose adherence was 33,3%, less adherance was 31,7% and the non-adherence was 35%. The results of Rank Spearmen test, lthe each valuelof p=0,000l (p<0,05) showed thatlthere is correlation betweenlthe level of knowledge and motivation with medication adherence of patients with hypertension.
