Advisor : Dr. Ribut Surjowati, S.P.d, M.P.d The aim of this study is to teach speaking by using picture series for Junior High School students. Speaking is one of the skills that has to be mastered by students in learning English. Speaking requires learners to have knowledge about how to produce not only linguistically connection but also pragmatically appropriate utterances. In the education system, learning English using Picture Series will be taught by the teacher and the teacher usually uses discussion or dialogue techniques as the initial step of teaching. In teaching there are many media that can be applied one of the media is picture series. Picture Series is a number of related composite pictures linked to form a series of squence. When the teacher adds picture in a text, it gives some contribution to the speaking learning process. With pictures students can express thought or ideas easily in squence. In the same way, they express their ideas to build stories in good language structure. Pictures series should be colorful and varied, as colorful pictures intensify the use of the students’ imagination. It can be used as aids in drilling vocabullary, playing communication games, giving understanding, putting ornamentation, making prediction and leading a discussion.
