Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the effectiveness of red betel leaf infusion (Piper crocatum) as anti hyperglycemia in mice (Mus musculus). Experimental animals used were 24 male mice. The design of this research was completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments 6 repetitions. There were four treatmens P0 (Control), P1 (6 mice given 5% concentration of red betel leaf infusion), P2 (6 mice given 10% concentration of red betel leaf infusion), and P3 (6 mice given 15% concentration of red betel leaf infusion). The treatment is carried out once every day for 21 days. Before treatment, initial weight was measured and blood glucose level examination continued the 7th day, on 14th day, until the 21st day. Data obtained from the results of weighing found an average value of P0 (25.67 ± 2.994a) g, P1 5% (24.17 ± 1.329a) g, P2 10% (22.67 ± 2.658a) g, and P3 15% (24.83 ± 2.994a). The results of the data from the examination of blood glucose levels found an average value of P0 (97.17 ± 57.784a) mg/dL, P1 5% (98.83 ± 52.943a) mg/dL, P2 10% (82.00 ± 41.313a ) mg/dL, and P3 15% (94.67 ± 41.793a) mg/dL. The data obtained were then analyzed using the ANOVA test which statistically showed no significant difference (P> 0.05) from body weight and blood glucose levels in mice (Mus musculus) which were given red betel leaf infusion (Piper crocatum).
