Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness comparison between betel leaf extract (Piper betle linn) with hibiscus leaf extract (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L) against the redness and length of incision wounds of white rats (Ratus norvegicus). The experimental design used in this study was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 6 replications, namely the treatment of incision wounds in white rats without therapy as a negative control (P0), treatment with betadine as positive control (P1), treatment with leaf extract Betel (P2) and treatment with hibiscus leaf extract (P3). White mice were injured in the back area along 2 cm with a depth of 0.05 mm and observed for 15 days. Observations were carried out once every three days for 15 days namely the 0th day, 3rd day, 9th day, 12th day and 15th day. The results of Kruskal Wallis statistical analysis showed that there were significant differences (p <0.05) between the treatment groups P0, P1, P2, and P3. The conclusion of this study shows that the administration of betel leaf extract and hibiscus leaf extract has the effectiveness in reducing the redness of the wound better than the use of betadine while the length of the incision wound, the use of hibiscus leaf extract has better effectiveness than betel leaf extract, and the use of betadine.
