Abstract

This study aims to examine differences in perceptions between senior and junior students about the accounting profession in the regular S-1 program at the University of Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya. In this research using non-probability sampling method with purposive sampling procedure. In the research results using the method that has been determined obtained the following value, sig (2- tailed) salary = 0.776; training = 0.011; social values = 0.625; work environment = 0,010; labor market considerations = 0.088. Because of the training indicators and also the work environment has a value smaller than 0.05. Can be interpreted that the perception between senior and junior students about the views of the accounting profession to be selected differently, the views of senior and junior students are not the same. Which means the level of semester affects the view of the accounting profession. The results of this study indicate that the Regular Program of Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya perceptions of senior students on "accountant as a Profession" with some indicators get higher results than junior students. Obtained conclusions about the difference of perceptions of senior and junior students about the accounting profession in the regular S1 program, so the hypothesis is accepted. So the more senior students learn about accounting, the more like and want a career as an accountant. Keywords : Perception, Accountant Profession, Senior and Junior Student
