ABSTRACT Agustiawan, Riyo, 2019. The Effect of Giving Kepok Banana Extract (Musa balbisiana) As an Antibacterial Escherichia coli Using the Diffusion Method. Diseases caused by bacteria are usually treated with antibiotics. However, at this time there is a problem of bacterial resistance to some antibiotics that have been commonly used. Based on the research conducted, it is known that the types of pathogenic germs such as Pseudomnas sp. Klebsiella sp. Escherichia coli, S. B haemolyticus, S. Epidermidis and S. aureus have the highest resistance to ampicillin, amoxicillin, penicillin G, tetracycline and chloramphenicol. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving kepok banana hump extract (Musa balbisiana) to the inhibiting power of Escherichia coli growth. The population taken was culture of Escherichia coli bacteria obtained at the Microbiology Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya with a sample size of 20. The independent variables in this study were kepok banana hump extract (25%, 50%, 75%), Escherichia coli while the dependent variable is the diameter of the Escherichia coli inhibition zone. Data analysis in this study was processed using the One Way ANOVA statistical test. The results showed that Pvalue was 0.001 <0.05, which means that there was an effect of giving Kepok banana extract (Musa balbisiana) extract to inhibit the growthof Escherichia coli bacteria.
