Abstract
THE EFFECT OF COMMERCIAL FEED AND BLACK SOLDIER FLY (BSF) LARVAE ON PROTEIN AND FAT CONTENTS OF AFRICAN CATFISH (Clarias gariepinus) Jeni Yunita Ningsih ABSTRACT The aimed of study to determined of the levels of protein and fat of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) which were fed commercial feed and Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae with different amounts of 5%, 7% and 9%, BSF larvae raised with growth media mixture (cabbages, carrots, and tomatoes). The animal samples used were 24 African catfish with four groups of P0 (fed commercial feed), P1 (fed BSF larvae as much as 5%), P2 (fed BSF larvae feed as much as 7%), and P3 (fed BSF larvae as much as 9%). The samples of African catfish were first adapted to the aquarium pond for 7 days and treated for 7 days. The type of research used was experimental research with the random sampling process. Based on processing data by one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed no significant difference (P> 0.05) on protein content of African catfish meat at each treatment. Meat fat content of African catfish, which was given commercial feed and BSF larvae (5%, 7%, and 9%), was found that there was a very significant difference between treatments P <0.01. Black Soldier Fly larvae can be used as feed pellet substitutes on African catfish. Keywords : African Catfish (Clarias gariepinus), Fat Content, Protein Content, Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Larvae.
