Abstract

Low birth weight is one of the factors causing death in children. The cause of LBW can be suspected by several factors including babies born before the age of enough months or better known as premature. Based on this description, This study aims to determine the relationship between gestational age and the incidence of Low Birth Weight in neonates at Primary Hospital Gerbang Sehat Mahulu Mahakam Ulu, East Kalimantan province with 30 respondent as the sample. Furthermore, the independent variables in this study were the gestational age of the mother at delivery at the Primary Hospital of East Kalimantan Mahakam Ulu Regency and the dependent variable was the baby born in August 2018 to March 2019 at the Primary Hospital of Mahakam Ulu District, East Kalimantan with birth weight less than 2,500 grams. While the data analysis of this study was processed using statistical odds ratio tests. From the results of the study, Individuals with not enough months of gestation had 8.33 times greater risk of experiencing the incidence of low birth weight babies than individuals with enough gestational age.
